The Duke Islamic Studies Center (DISC) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Islamic Studies in 2024-25 at Duke University. We seek candidates who study Muslim societies and cultures in their global context, with interdisciplinary and critical perspectives and methods, including digital humanities.

Duties include research and the provision of area expertise for events and collaborations with university partners to bring engaging academic and public lectures and events to the Duke and Durham community, partnering with UNC, NC State and other institutional and community partners. The successful candidate will propose two university-wide events per semester, focusing on increasing university and intercollegiate collaborations, while understanding and including current events as they arise. They will report to the DISC director, meeting consistently to discuss events and topics related to the area. It is expected that the Fellow will become an active member of DISC and engage in the intellectual life of the university.

Applicants must have successfully defended their dissertation by June 30, 2024. Applications completed by May 10, 2024 will be guaranteed consideration. This position is not eligible for second-year renewal.
