Clinical Veterinarian, Assistant Professor Non-Tenure Track Department of Animal Medicine

The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and the Department of Animal Medicine invite applications for a Non-Tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor Level, for a Clinical Veterinarian. The Clinical Veterinarian is responsible for providing and overseeing veterinary medical and surgical care for all research animals on campus. Specific responsibilities will be and not limited to, oversight of veterinary technicians, IACUC policy and protocol reviews, consultations with investigators regarding IACUC, clinical and research related issues, and oversight of the animal enrichment program.

Required qualifications include DVM/VMD from AVMA approved College of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent, license to practice veterinary medicine in a US state and ACLAM board certification or eligibility. If eligible the applicant must achieve ACLAM board certification within 18 months of appointment. Private practice or rotating internship experience, USDA accreditation, ABSL3 experience, or a graduate degree in biomedical science are preferred qualifications.

Computer, communication, and organizational skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a diverse environment are key competencies for the position.

This position is considered essential, and as such requires weekend, holiday, off-hours and inclement weather coverage as needed on a rotating basis.
