The Duke University Department of Anesthesiology invites applications for the role of Residency Program Director for its distinguished anesthesia training program. This program stands as a fundamental pillar of the department, consistently achieving recognition as one of the top five anesthesiology programs nationally. We are seeking an individual with a national presence in educational leadership, who is committed to steering a diverse team of medical and non-medical educators. The successful candidate will be adept at nurturing collaboration, enhancing educational outcomes, and dedicated to the continual improvement and upkeep of the program's esteemed status. Qualifications: Educational, Certification & Licensure Requirements: - Certification through the American Board of Anesthesiology or specialty qualifications that are acceptable to the ACGME Review Committee - Academic credentials and experience to qualify for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the Duke University School of Medicine - Current and ongoing clinical activity in anesthesiology Experience and Leadership: - A minimum of three years of documented educational and administrative experience at an academic healthcare institution involving large residency or fellowship program oversight, development, recruitment, and staffing management. - Skillset of strategic, visionary, and energetic leadership to advance innovation, growth, and continued program development among the clinical sites and within the department. Leadership, Community Engagement, and Wellness: - National recognition in relevant educational societies and/or specialty board - Proven ability to foster a supportive community, advance scholarship, and promote educational engagement among a diverse group. - Nurture a stimulating atmosphere that contributes to wellbeing, in parallel to maintaining an educational environment conducive to educating residents/fellows in each of the ACGME competency areas and in conformance with Duke University policies and procedures. - Exhibit a strong commitment to champion and improve residency programming that supports, develops, and mentors the next generation of clinical and scientific experts and leaders of anesthesiology and associated subspecialties.
