Position Description:
   

Senior Research Associate: The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated, possess strong training in molecular and cell biology, cell and animal models of human disease, genetics/genomics, and have a successful track record of contributing data to grant funding proposals. Senior Research Associates are expected to manage projects and oversee activities of other laboratory staff, contribute data to manuscripts and funding proposals, publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, engage in existing and new collaborations within and outside Duke University, and assist with training of lab members. Responsibilities will include but not limited to conducting research in the area of biomedical research related to genome engineering technologies and the study of gene regulations and its relevance to human disease. Tasks include developing genome engineering technologies for science and medicine, including cell culture, nucleic acid purification and detection, next-generation DNA sequencing, western blots, and histology, amongst other molecular and cellular biology assays. Assisting with studies that involve working with animal models of disease is also expected. Management responsibilities may involve overseeing a team of up to 4-6 other technicians and research associates in the lab, as well as leading a lab orientation course for new lab members and monthly meetings for all lab scientific staff to review progress and establish best operating procedures. It is expected that you will also be involved in advising and providing input on other ongoing projects.
