Position Description:

We are excited to announce the opportunity for one or more postdoctoral fellows in the field of experimental axion dark matter searches in Stefan Knirck’s lab at Harvard University.

Axion dark matter searches are on the cross-section between fundamental physics, astrophysics, photonics and quantum sensing. Our group is set to play a leading role in BREAD (Broadband Reflector Experiment for Axion Detection) and make crucial contributions to world-leading efforts such as ADMX (Axion Dark Matter eXperiment) and MADMAX (MAgnetized Disk and Mirror Axion eXperiment). We invite all candidates who are passionate about making an impact to this interdisciplinary field both by providing their expertise and grow by learning skills related to fields new to them.

Areas of interest include but are not limited to candidates with experience in one of the fields of direct dark matter detection, cryogenics, high-energy experiment, accelerator cavity design, GHz to far-infrared photonics and optics such as CMB instrumentation, superconducting devices, or quantum sensing. Job duties include the design, realization and operation of axion detectors, e.g., resonators, optics and photon sensing, as well as publication and scientific dissemination of physics results.

Candidates for this position must have completed their Ph.D. or equivalent degree by the appointment start date.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Applications should be received no later than September 15 and contain: · Curriculum Vitae · List of Publications · Research Statement of about one page, not to exceed 2 pages · 3 letters of recommendation

*Applications will continue to be accepted after September 15 until the position is filled.
