Philippe Meyer Junior Research Chairs, Physics Department, Ecole normale supérieure, Paris

The Physics Department of Ecole normale supérieure (ENS Paris) invites applications for up to three Junior Research Chairs, at postdoctoral level, funded by the Philippe Meyer Institute.

The Philippe Meyer Institute aims at outstanding candidates with international experience. The initial appointment will be for two years, with a possible extension for a third year. Salary is competitive, according to experience and qualification.

The successful candidates will carry out their research within the Laboratory of Physics of Ecole Normale Supérieure (LPENS). For more information about the research in the LPENS, please visit the website: https://www.phys.ens.fr/en/article/laboratories

For this 2024 call, we shall exclusively recruit theoretical physicists, with expertise and projects in the following domains: • field and string theory, • theoretical particle and astro-particle physics, • theoretical cosmology, • statistical physics, • condensed matter physics, • soft matter physics, • biophysics, • information theory, • non-linear physics, • as well as all other theoretical research areas of interest for the LPENS.

Applications shall be exclusively submitted through Academic Jobs Online and shall consist of: • A cover letter; • A CV including a complete list of publications; • A research statement (no more than 3 pages). The indication of possible interactions with research groups within LPENS is optional; • Three letters of recommendation, from senior scientists.

Short-listed candidates shall be invited for interview (videoconference) in December 2024.

Positions shall start in October 2025, but this is slightly negotiable.
