Postdoc position in Theory and Phenomenology of Heavy Ion and Ultracold Atom Physics

Postdoctoral researcher (Akademische*r Mitarbeiter*in) (f/m/d) 

The position is for 2+1 years (salary level TV-L E 13, 100%) with a flexible starting date in 2024/2025.

Job description:

We are seeking a qualified candidate to join the interdisciplinary research project on collectivity in few-body systems at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. The successful candidate will join the research group of Dr Aleksas Mazeliauskas [1] in projects on collective phenomena with a small number of particles in cold atom experiments and heavy ion collisions. This position is part of Collaborative Research Center 1225 "Isolated quantum systems and universality in extreme conditions" (ISOQUANT) [2]. We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile scientist who would actively engage with local experts in cold atom and heavy ion physics to study the origins of collectivity in few-body strongly interacting systems.

Your profile:

- PhD in Physics (or equivalent) is required.
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
- Expertise in microscopic or macroscopic descriptions of heavy ion and/or cold atom systems is highly desired.
- Qualities of initiative, resourcefulness and independence.
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
