Position Description:

The Ohio State University Departments of Astronomy and Physics invite applications for Postdoctoral Fellows in the Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics (CCAPP). We seek candidates with strong research programs in any area of cosmology, astroparticle physics, or astrophysics. Fellows will be supported through our extensive resources (including access to the Large Binocular Telescope and the Ohio Supercomputer Center), our friendly and supportive culture, and our award-winning mentoring programs. We especially encourage applications from members of under-represented groups.

CCAPP has significant efforts in theoretical, observational, and experimental astrophysics. Current research areas include dark energy, large-scale structure, cosmic microwave background, gravitational lensing, dark matter, galaxy formation and evolution, Galactic dynamics and substructure, cosmic rays, gamma rays, neutrinos, nucleosynthesis, stellar physics, supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, and active galactic nuclei. CCAPP has affiliations with the Dark Energy Survey (DES), Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (formerly WFIRST), Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA), Payload for Ultrahigh Energy Observations (PUEO), Askaryan Radio Array (ARA), IceCube/IceCube-Gen2, and the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN).

CCAPP Fellow appointments will be for three-year terms. In addition to competitive salaries ($65k/year and a low cost of living), these positions come with $10k/year research budgets and a $3k relocation funds. Applicants will also be considered for other postdoctoral positions.

Applications will be reviewed until all positions are filled, but applying before December 1, 2024 is strongly preferred. Applications should include a cover letter (optional), curriculum vitae, list of publications (can be included in the CV), a brief description of past and proposed research (the format is flexible). Finalists for this position will be asked to furnish at least three letters of recommendation upon request.

All materials must be submitted via Workday, link: https://osu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/OSUCareers/job/Columbus-Campus/CCAPP-Post-Doctoral-Scholar_R108389-1
