Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering is seeking a talented, driven, and innovative, Executive in Residence to lead all aspects of the AI Master of Engineer’s Industry Practicum Program, a required course which all students taken in which they work in teams on a technical project with an industry sponsor.  The Executive in Residence will also develop and launch 1-2 new elective options for both the AI Master of Engineering and Master of Engineering Management students at the intersection of AI/analytics and product management / product innovation.

 

If you are passionate about developing the next generation of leaders in applied AI and are enthused about leveraging your leadership skills to lead our Industry Practicum Program and build on our current number of corporate relationships, then we invite you to apply for this role. The AI Master of Engineering is housed within the Institute for Enterprise Engineering, which supports the development of engineering professionals throughout their careers as a part of Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering (Durham, NC).

 

The major responsibilities of this new Executive in Residence position will be (1) lead the AI MEng Industry Practicum program including sourcing, scoping and managing all student projects, 2) teach two new elective courses in AI and at the intersection of AI and product innovation / product management, and 3) participate in service work, which may include but is not limited to; application reviews, industry relations, technical professional education, student mentoring and career support, and supporting the Duke AI Hackathon and other events for the AI MEng program.

 

Preferred candidates will have a demonstrated ability to lead student-industry projects, teach courses at the graduate level, and mentor students from diverse cultures.  Candidates should also have significant industry experience and a strong track record of success in managing cross-functional AI/analytics projects. An academic and industry understanding of these areas, in particular in an applied environment, is crucial to the success of the classes.  A PhD in a relevant technical area is strongly preferred but not required.  This is expected to be an on-site, full-time position.
