The successful candidate will participate in two electron beam experiments aimed at discovery of thermal relic dark matter. The first is an experiment at Jefferson National Laboratory, the Heavy Photon Search (HPS), whose primary goal is the detection of visible decays of the dark photon. The second is the Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX), a proposed experiment to be sited at SLAC, which searches for missing momentum signatures of thermal relic dark matter. In this position you will:- Participate in the design, construction and commissioning of LDMX.
- Analyze existing HPS data for dark photon and other dark matter models
- Operate HPS in upcoming runs at Jefferson Laboratory
- Publish research findings in journals and present at conferences
