Position Description:
   

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the intersection of Disability Health, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Entrepreneurship, and Technology. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field, with extensive experience and interest in Assistive and Accessibility Technologies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research aimed at addressing wayfinding and navigation challenges for persons with disabilities. The successful candidate will contribute to developing and evaluating innovative mobile applications, conduct Federally funded human subject studies, and work collaboratively with a diverse and interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities: 1. Research and Development: Conduct research in the area of Assistive and Accessibility Technologies. Develop and evaluate mobile application(s) designed to assist persons with disabilities in wayfinding and navigation. Design and implement experimental studies involving human subjects, focusing on usability and effectiveness of developed technologies. 2. Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with graduate students, a project manager, undergraduate students, and faculty members across disciplines. Mentor and guide graduate and undergraduate students in their research projects. Collaborate with industry partners to translate research findings into practical solutions. 3. Dissemination and Communication: Publish research findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present at academic conferences. Communicate research results to both technical and non-technical audiences. Engage with stakeholders, including persons with disabilities, to gather feedback and ensure the relevance and impact of the research.

Qualifications: Education: PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.

Experience: Demonstrated experience in Assistive and Accessibility Technologies through publications and project work. Proven track record of working on wayfinding and navigation challenges for persons with disabilities. Experience in developing and evaluating mobile applications. Experience conducting human subject studies and working directly with persons with disabilities.

Skills: Strong programming skills, particularly in mobile app development. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, for disseminating research findings. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Interest and experience in entrepreneurial activities and technology commercialization. Experience with grant writing and securing Federal, State, or Foundation research funding. Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in the field of Assistive and Accessibility Technologies, including the application of Artificial Intelligence.
