The Psychology Department [http://www.brandeis.edu/departments/psych/] at Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time, renewable contract professorial position (i.e., outside the tenure structure but with a path toward advancement in rank) to begin in August, 2025. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in psychology or a related field and will show outstanding promise as a classroom teacher. This teaching-focused faculty will be fully integrated into the Brandeis Psychology department faculty and will serve as an advisor for undergraduate and graduate students.

Teaching Teach 5 courses per academic year: o multiple sections of Research Methods and Laboratory in Psychology, PSYC 52a o one section of Introduction to Psychology, PSYC10a o broad expertise to allow for coverage of additional courses on an ad hoc basis, as defined by the chair. These could include Personality (PSYC 31a), Developmental Psychology (PSYC 33a), Social Psychology (PSYC 34b), Adolescence and Transition to Maturity (PSYC 36b), Disorders of Childhood (PSYC169B), Biological Bases of Motivation (PSYC 15a), and Human Neuropsychology (NPSY199a). o an additional upper-level elective course covering curricular needs, approved by the chair. o It would be desirable for the candidate to have some expertise in biological or neural bases of behavior to assist with coverage of these topics, or the comfort level to integrate some of these perspectives into their courses.

• Hold office hours for 2 hours per week. • Supervise graduate teaching assistants. • Serve on graduate student (Ph.D. or Masters) and undergraduate honors student thesis committees. • Mentor undergraduate independent studies, internships, or reading projects. • Mentor senior honors students and Masters students, approximately 2 per year.

Scholarship • Research is not required except as mentor/supervisor of student research. • Supervise undergraduate and Master’s student research projects, potentially in collaboration with other contract faculty.

Service • Major departmental service role, such as undergraduate advising head. • Attend department meetings and contribute to other departmental service. • 1 University service post germane to teaching responsibilities, approved by the chair and Dean of Arts and Sciences (e.g., Writing Intensive Committee, which leverages expertise obtained from teaching the Research Methods and Laboratory in Psychology, PSYC 52a).
