M1 Quantum Lab / Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation Research Scientist Position in Quantum Technology

About the M1 Quantum Lab Group

Led by Pr. Mathieu Juan, the group specializes in quantum information processing and hybrid quantum systems. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, superconducting quantum circuits, circuit QED, and quantum optomechanics. Beyond fundamental sciences, the technological applications explored in the group include quantum interconnects and acceleration sensors. As a member of the group, you'll be part of the Institut Quantique (IQ) and Interdisciplinary Institute for Technological Innovation (3iT) at the Université de Sherbrooke which mission is to stimulate technological development by providing an interdisciplinary ecosystem of scientific research, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This unique position combines a dynamic research environment on quantum science in the M1 Quantum Lab as well as an active role in innovation and the technological development of novel technologies.

Job Description

Role:

As part of the M1 Quantum Lab team, you will have the opportunity to take part to different projects involving optical, mechanical, and superconducting devices. Current projects include levitated optomechanics, inertial sensing, double quantum dots, and quantum transduction. With the freedom to choose the projects that matches your interests and the opportunity to mentor motivated students while also getting involved in project management and grant applications, the position offers excellent career building opportunities.

Located in Quebec, Canada, the Institut Quantique (IQ) at the Université de Sherbrooke is a collaborative environment with over 300 students, postdocs and faculty members pioneering advancements in the fields of quantum information science, quantum engineering and quantum materials. Profile

We're looking for highly motivated candidates, capable of working independently on their projects while actively collaborating with other group members. Our ideal candidate has excellent communication skills as evidenced by publications and talks, as well as strong interpersonal skills. Experience in fabrication of either superconducting or photonic circuits would be an asset.
