The Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in China Studies, beginning on or before July 1, 2025. The search is open to applicants from all disciplines and functional specializations, but we are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship and teaching focus on Chinese domestic politics and/or international relations. Successful candidates would be expected to have demonstrated the potential for excellence in any discipline relevant to international affairs, and share a commitment to the Pardee School’s institutional values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

The successful candidate will teach at least one required course on China, as well as courses in his/her/their area/s of functional expertise, and will also advise and mentor our undergraduate and graduate Masters degree students. Candidates who have demonstrated policy experience in addition to scholarly qualifications are especially encouraged to apply.

BU conducts a background check on all final candidates for certain faculty and staff positions. The background check includes contacting the final candidate’s current and previous employer(s) to ask whether, in the last 7 years, there has been a substantiated finding of misconduct violating that employer’s applicable sexual misconduct policies. To implement this process, the University requires a final candidate to complete and sign an authorization to release information after execution of an offer letter.
