The Department of Clinical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a Tenure Track faculty position in the Section of Small Animal Internal Medicine. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and board certification in Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM or ECVIM). This is an open-rank search where appointment can be made at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.

The successful candidate is expected to provide excellent clinical care and client communication, and partner with four board-certified faculty to provide Internal Medicine services at Cornell University’s Companion Animal Hospital (CUHA), a comprehensive teaching and referral center with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. Responsibilities include shared oversight, training and mentorship of residents, rotating interns, and veterinary students while on clinical service, didactic and laboratory instruction as part of the curriculum, and continuing education to the veterinary community.

It is expected that the successful candidate will engage in research and discovery that advances the care and well-being of companion animals. Cornell University is a premier research institution with extensive resources directed towards independent and collaborative research. Within the College, research in companion animals is supported through a competitive grants program from the Cornell Riney Canine Health Center, Cornell Feline Health Center, in addition to startup funding. Collaborations within the College and University, including Weill Cornell Medical College and technology campuses in New York City are encouraged, and supported through various mechanisms. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will also secure external funding for their research.

Clinical duties require flexible working hours that may include daytime, evening, and weekend responsibilities. After-hours and emergency back-up support for Internal Medicine residents is shared among Internal Medicine faculty; however, the Companion Animal Hospital is supported by 24/7 Emergency Receiving and Critical Care Services. The candidate should exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills and a cooperative work ethic that will interface well with all sections of the hospital.
