Position Description:
   

The Duke Center for Materials in Medicine (MIM) in Pratt School of Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Research Scientist to join the team.

 

Responsibilities Include:

Manage project to set up a digital database to hold material characterization data and biological outcome data ensuring it is accessible through the web for both Duke and non-Duke users.

Device methods to visualize data stored in the database and compare different datasets as user defined. 

Manage project to develop machine learning algorithms designed to mine data from the digital database, advancing the research capabilities of the center.

Write grants and reports related to the digital core of MIM, ensuring continued funding and reporting on project milestones.

Maintained detailed records and reports, including presentations that include graphical representations of the database and ML methods/outputs

Attend planning and checking meetings

Respond to center emails about the center’s digital offerings and provide guidance to new users

 

Qualifications:

PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

Strong track record of research and publications in a relevant area.

Expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and modern research technologies.

Experience with database management and machine learning algorithms.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
