Dr. Wei’s neutrino group at Louisiana State University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in experimental neutrino physics, starting in late 2024 or early 2025. The initial appointment is for one year, renewable up to two additional years for a total of three years.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will spend 40% of their time on development of LArTPC event reconstruction, focusing on its development and integration into the SBND experiment, which is currently running and producing exciting data; 40% of time will be spent on Physics analysis within the SBN program, with a primary focus on the SBND and MicroBooNE experiments; and 20% taking a leadership role and mentor graduate students in the group’s efforts; and present scientific results at conferences and in publications.

The successful candidate will be based at LSU’s main campus in Baton Rouge, with travel to Brookhaven National Lab in New York and Fermi National Accelerator Lab in Illinois. The candidate will collaborate with members of the SBND and MicroBooNE collaborations, both on- and off-site, online and in person.

Minimum qualifications: PhD degree in physics, experimental particle physics or a related field, by the time the position starts.

Preferred qualifications: Experience in scientific data analysis, AI/ML techniques or applications, and C++/python programming is essential. Experience in detector simulation and event reconstruction is highly desirable.
