Position Description:

JOB SUMMARY: The highly ranked Department of Chemistry of the University of Wisconsin-Madison is accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position, beginning August 2025. We seek outstanding candidates with research interests in all areas of chemistry connected to environmental sustainability and societal challenges, with preference given to applicants in the fields of hard materials chemistry, experimental physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry. The successful candidate will advance the educational mission of the College of Letters and Science, that values, prioritizes, and actualizes evidence-based and student-centered teaching and student mentoring. They will contribute to an inclusive, fair, and equitable environment that fosters engagement and a sense of belonging for faculty, staff, students and members of the broader community.

RESPONSIBILITIES: A successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a vigorous research program in their area of specialization, teach chemistry courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, participate in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools and colleges, perform professional and university service as appropriate, and work with other department members to accomplish diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

The successful candidate, as a member of the College of Letters and Science, will proactively contribute to, support, and advance the college's commitment to equity among all aspects of their teaching, mentoring, research, and service.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field is required by start of appointment.

Candidates must have the potential to develop a vigorous research program in their field of specialization. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, mentoring, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive.
