The Department of Cell Biology at Duke University Medical Center is seeking to hire tenure-track faculty. We offer a dynamic research environment with an inclusive culture. We are primarily seeking candidates at the Assistant Professor level. We welcome applications from all fields of cell biology, with preference given to those whose research complements and strengthens our department’s in vivo and quantitative approaches to significant biological questions. Successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of creativity and productivity, show potential for outstanding future achievements, and have a strong desire to integrate into Duke’s collaborative and expanding research community. Responsibilities include developing a productive and innovative research program, securing external funding, and actively participating in graduate and post-graduate training and mentorship. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. We especially encourage applications from individuals with backgrounds underrepresented in science and from women. The application package should include: • A cover letter • A one-page STEM statement outlining your philosophy on advancing equity in STEM and your contributions or future plans for creating an inclusive research environment • A curriculum vitae • A three-page research statement, including a one-page summary of past research accomplishments and a two-page summary of future research plans. To mitigate unconscious bias, we ask applicants to submit an Anonymized Research Plan. The plan can refer to the applicant’s experiences and qualifications but should not include names. For a reference to your own work, please use the following format: Title of manuscript. Year. Preprint or published. • Three letters of recommendation Please note that applications lacking a STEM statement will not be considered.

Important Dates: For full consideration, applications should be received by October 30th, 2024. The first round of reviews will be concluded by November 18th and top candidates will be invited to a virtual symposium to present their research and future plans. This symposium will take place in early December. In early January, candidates will participate in on-site interviews to meet the search committee, faculty, and trainees.
