Position Description

The MIT Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Science (MKI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate position in the area of observational extragalactic astrophysics. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Rohan Naidu and Prof. Robert Simcoe on the high-redshift universe, primarily using the James Webb Space Telescope. MIT has institutional access to the 6.5-meter Magellan Telescopes at Las Campanas, as well as the new infrared time-domain telescope WINTER.

Candidates with expertise in all areas of extragalactic astronomy are encouraged to apply. Experience working with JWST data, and specific familiarity with NIRCam grism spectroscopy is appreciated. Applicants must have a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field at the time of appointment. The position is for a two-year initial term, with extension for a third year dependent upon performance and availability of funds. The appointment is expected to start on or before September 1, 2025, but the starting date is flexible.
