Position Description
The Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (http://tdli.sjtu.edu.cn) invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty (“Fellow”) position work in the area of theoretical studies of early universe particle physics, cosmology, and related areas of quantum field theory. This position is also a joint appointment at the School of Physics and Astronomy (SPA) (https://www.physics.sjtu.edu.cn/en/). The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in expanding our present research in early universe quantum field theory and particle physics, with applications to cosmic phase transitions, gravitational waves, baryogenesis, axion cosmology, dark matter and related phenomenological studies, dark energy, and cosmic tensions. TDLI, established in 2016, is a national research institute conducting research in particle and nuclear physics, astrophysics and quantum physics. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is the contractor and trustee of TDLI, and is in charge of the operation of TDLI. TDLI has an active visitor program, and organizes many topical workshops and conferences each year to create a scientifically stimulating environment. About 40% of the researchers are international, and English is the working language of the institute. The TDLI particle and nuclear physics division has a rich particle phenomenological program in particle and nuclear physics, astrophysics and cosmology. We work closely with the Institute of Particle and Nuclear Physics (INPAC, https://inpac.physics.sjtu.edu.cn/en/) at SJTU, and also with the astrophysics division, particularly in the area of astro-particle physics and cosmology. Fellows at all levels at TDLI are expected to carry out independent forefront research and supervise students (both Ph.D. and undergraduate students), and to teach at all levels with reduced teaching load. The positions come with comprehensive university offer packages for faculty, including a highly competitive salary, start-up grant, generous housing subsidies, medical insurance and retirement benefits. TDLI has an international environment with English as its working language and invites candidates of all nationalities. TDLI seeks to promote equal opportunity and diversity in physics. Members of under-represented groups in physics are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should submit their applications at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/28582. They should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae (including a publication list), a research and teaching statement (four-page maximum). At least five reference letters should be submitted online at the same website. For other inquires please send an email to Michael Ramsey-Musolf ( mjrm@sjtu.edu.cn ).
