Position Function          

This Postdoctoral Associate position will work with Dr. Yun Yang on very-fine scale evapotranspiration modeling by combining satellite and UAV data with machine learning and AI. This individual will be responsible for processing data from Planet, Landsat and Sentinel satellites and collecting and processing UAV observations. And using these processed data to model very-fine spatial resolution evapotranspiration data using methods including machine learning, AI and two source energy balance-based evapotranspiration models.

Anticipated Division of Time

This position requires 10% of the time for field work and data collection,

60% of the time for data analysis, and

30% of the time for writing and publishing scientific articles.

Requirements

A Ph.D. in remote sensing, geography, environmental science, engineering and computer science. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to write, publish, and present research effectively. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in using deep learning and AI on remotely sensed data and programing skills in Python, C, Matlab or R.

Supervision Exercised

This position may supervise both graduate and undergraduate students.

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
