Position Description:
   

The position is currently funded for two years, with the possibility of future extensions conditional on satisfactory performance

Support faculty researchers by performing editing of scientific content of their grant proposals to improve clarity of writing and highlight to reviewers the significance of their proposals goals.

Help faculty members develop and write responses to grant proposal reviews.

Provide support for development and scientific editing of collaborative research proposals across departments and schools and with external collaborators.

Help faculty with the mechanics of proposal submissions, i.e. formatting of the proposal, creating cover pages, enter pertinent information into web-interfaces.

Write, edit, and illustrate material for reporting recent, ongoing, and future research, education, and practices in the Department of Physics. This includes updates to and reports for the Chair, faculty, and others (dean, external stakeholders, etc.) that require analysis and summarizing of relevant scientific information; Collaborate with faculty and research personnel to write press releases and post to social media information on scientific discoveries to promote faculty research accomplishments (department website, Twitter, Facebook, external science sites).

Scientific editing of science publications written by Physics faculty.

Support the Chair by researching and analyzing scientific information; preparing drafts and editing of materials that are needed for Faculty Tenure/Promotion, Faculty searches/recruitment, Visiting faculty/named professorship nominations, Chair’s annual review of faculty activities, and nominations for internal and external faculty and staff awards.

Provide support for faculty special projects and events (i.e., faculty-organized conferences, multi-institutional collaborations on teaching, professional development events, etc.); Provide support for science outreach efforts of faculty and lab personnel.

Research funding trends and identify funding opportunities in collaboration with faculty, with priority for new faculty and faculty with gaps in funding or exploring new areas of research.

Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications - Education: Bachelor's degree - Work Experience: Production Management, Journalism, Writing, Public Relations, And Other Major Project Management (3 Years)

Preferred Qualifications Fluency in generating web pages and editing Latex documents. Experience in an academic research institution. - Education: Master's degree, Ph.D. - Doctor of Philosophy - Physics - Work Experience: Journalism Or Technical Writing (5 Years)
