The Department of Computer Science at Rice University invites applications for an assistant, associate, or full professor position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Applications for this particular position should have the following focus:

The selected candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses within their expertise; perform high-quality research in their specialized area and present findings from their research in peer-reviewed publications and conferences; establish a strong research program supported by extramural funding; be involved in service to the university and broader scientific community; and collaborate with faculty in diverse disciplines. The successful candidate will be required to have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.

About the Department and School of Engineering

The Department of Computer Science has consistently ranked among the top graduate programs in the country (US News & World Report) and is strongly committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. The department has hired multiple outstanding new faculty members in the last few years and is authorized to hire at least 10 tenured and tenure-track faculty members in the next three years. The Department is part of the George R. Brown School of Engineering and Computing, which ranks among the top undergraduate engineering programs (US News & World Report) and is strongly committed to nurturing the aspirations of faculty, staff, and students in an inclusive environment.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in computer science or a related discipline or must complete the Ph.D. by November 1st of the year employment commences. All applicants should demonstrate excellence in scholarship, teaching, and collegial service.
