Position Description

The Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University is seeking a Non-Regular Rank Adjunct Professor to teach Masters-level cybersecurity classes. The ideal candidate will have commitment, passion, and excellence in teaching.

This position would teach one class per semester in the areas of Cybersecurity in the Masters program. This role will have the mentorship of Pratt’s outstanding regular-rank teaching faculty and not only polish their teaching skills, but also become immersed in the novel pedagogy used in these programs.
Successful candidates will be expected to: 
  • Develop and oversee a world class interdisciplinary master’s program  
  • Teach 2-3 courses each year within the current curriculum  
  • Collaborate across department and school boundaries  
  • Develop and deliver applications-oriented courses related to the current curriculum 
  • Connect and engage with industry partners regarding capstone projects, career opportunities, seminar discussions, and participation in an industrial advisory board
Ideal candidates would have Cybersecurity experience in either an academic, government or corporate setting. They would also have a PhD or commensurate industry experience/expertise in a Cybersecurity related discipline, such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, as well as teaching/course development experience. Existing industry and or government relations in the Cybersecurity space is highly desirable.
