Position Description
The Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, located in Houston, TX, invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the area of computer systems, broadly defined, with anticipated start dates of July 1, 2025. One of these positions will be a primary appointment in Computer Science with a courtesy appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The other will be a primary appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a courtesy appointment in Computer Science. We seek outstanding candidates with research interests in engineering innovations that could transform the future of computing systems. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to secure and privacy-preserving systems, trustworthy systems, disaggregated computing, cloud computing, systems for AI, embedded systems, in-memory computing, analog computing systems, emerging and novel computing systems, next-generation computing systems, algorithms for next-generation computing systems, IoT, energy-efficient computing/sensing systems, neuromorphic sensing and computing systems, operating systems and compilers for non-traditional computing systems, next-generation networking systems, and next-generation communication systems.
These areas should not be considered limiting, and any candidate who believes their work directly impacts computing systems and algorithms/architectures for computing systems (broadly defined) is encouraged to apply. More experienced senior candidates amid transformative research projects and with particular experience building institutional equity across their fields may also be considered.
The selected candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses within their expertise; perform high-quality research in their specialized area and present findings from their research in peer-reviewed publications and conferences; establish a strong research program supported by extramural funding; be involved in service to the university and broader scientific community; and collaborate with faculty in diverse disciplines. The successful candidate will be required to have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications
All candidates must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field conferred by the year employment commences. All applicants should demonstrate excellence in scholarship, teaching, and collegial service.
