This opening is part of a vigorous expansion at the Niels Bohr Institute into the field of Gravitational Physics, where this particular hire is part of the ERC-funded project BlackHoleMergs, led by J. Samsing.
The succesfull candidate will also join the new Center-of-Excellence named 'Center-of-Gravity' (CoG), that is funded by the Danish National Research Foundation (DNRF) and will open at the Niels Bohr Institute, Fall 2025. The CoG will be a defining place over the next decade to do research on all aspects of gravity and black holes in the new era of gravitational wave (astro)physics. The CoG group on 'Environmental-Effects' will be led by J. Samsing, and candidates with interest in this field are therefore particular encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will further have exclusive access to some of the largest dedicated astrophysics computer resources in Scandinavia, including a general-purpose cluster with more than 3000 cores, a GPU cluster, a petabyte of storage, and dedicated data analysis servers. There are also opportunities to guide more junior fellows, teach courses at various levels, participate in outreach activities, and organize international meetings. The position also includes a generous research and travel budget.
