Job Title: Postdoctoral Associate
Position Summary:
Cornell University’s Laboratory for Accelerator-based Sciences and Education (CLASSE) invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position in the theoretical particle physics group, with a focus on research in string theory, quantum gravity, or AdS/CFT, broadly defined. The successful candidate will conduct research in one or more of these areas and collaborate with other members of the theory group.
Research topics in the theoretical particle physics group include string theory, quantum gravity, quantum field theory, cosmology, electroweak symmetry breaking, collider physics, flavor physics, particle physics beyond the standard model, and more. Research on string theory and quantum gravity is led by faculty members Tom Hartman and Liam McAllister and includes a dynamic team of postdoctoral researchers and students.
Essential Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics is required by the start of the appointment
- Strong record of accomplishment in theoretical physics research
- Experience or interest in string theory, quantum field theory, or quantum gravity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest and ability to work in a collaborative research environment
- Record of scientific publications
- Ability to communicate effectively with researchers of all levels
- Proficiency in science communication, written and oral, formal and informal
Compensation:
The salary for this position is $61,008.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
