Position Description

The Theoretical High-Energy Physics Group at the University of Padua will open two postdoctoral positions in the fields of particle and astroparticle phenomenology:

1) The first of these positions will be in the field of axion phenomenology and cosmology. Knowledge of axion phenomenology, low-energy QCD techniques, thermal field theory, model building, and/or particle cosmology will be appreciated. For further information, please contact Philip Sørensen at philip.soerensen@pd.infn.it.

2) The second position will be on investigating the role modular invariance may play in particle physics and cosmology. Knowledge of modular symmetries, as well as experience in flavour model building and effective field theories will be a plus. For further information, please contact Arsenii Titov at arsenii.titov@df.unipi.it.

For both positions, the starting date is expected to be in the fall of 2025 and the positions are for two years.

The Department of Physics and Astronomy keeps close ties with INFN and the positions will include an INFN association. The high-energy theory group at the Department and INFN Padua includes F. D'Eramo, L. Di Luzio, M. Fael, F. Feruglio, R. Gröber, M. K. Mandal, A. Masiero, P. Mastrolia, P. Paradisi, M. Passera, M. Peloso, S. Rigolin, P. Sørensen, A. Titov, L. Vecchi, E. Vitagliano, F. Zwirner, plus several postdocs and students. We also maintain close ties to the research groups in string theory and cosmology. Further information about the Department can be found at https://www.dfa.unipd.it and information about the Theoretical Physics Group of INFN Padua can be found at https://www.pd.infn.it/it/gruppo-4/gruppo-iv-membri/.

Potential candidates should submit their CV (including a publication list and INSPIRE profile link), a statement of research interests, and three letters of recommendation uploaded through the Academic Jobs Online portal. Please indicate in your statement of research interests which of the two positions you are interested in. Material submitted before January 15th 2025 will receive full consideration.

Application Materials Required:
Submit the following items online at this website to complete your application:
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Research statement
  • Three reference letters (to be submitted online by the reference writers on this site help popup)
