Position Description
The Pratt School of Engineering, Institute for Enterprise Engineering at Duke University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to serve as a Faculty Mentor-Coach for their Design and Technology Innovation Program. This position is expected to be part time.
This is a temporary one-year appointment with an extension possible based on needs.
The Design & Technology Innovation Mentor-Coach takes a key mentorship role in the program, which involves three responsibilities:
- project advising (60%): providing constructive design critique, technical troubleshooting, and cultivating narrative storytelling in student projects;
- professional development (30%): advising and providing feedback on student professional goals and trajectories, including portfolio development and review for multidisciplinary designers and engineers; and
- design and innovation process advising (10%): encouraging students' use of critical, design, and systems thinking methods and mindsets through 1:1 and small group coaching
Candidates with graduate degrees, especially at the PhD level, are preferred and strongly encouraged to apply, as are candidates with commensurate industry experience/expertise in related disciplines of engineering, design, data and computer sciences, and related fields.
Adjunct Instructor is a non-regular rank faculty position.
