The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream position in Cybersecurity. This is a Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) to the teaching stream for a three-year term to commence July 1, 2025.The successful candidate will be expected to serve as Course Director for undergraduate Computer Science courses with a focus on Cybersecurity. We are particularly interested in candidates who can develop and teach a strong subset of the following courses: Computer Security, Network Security, Security by Design, Security and Privacy, Vulnerability Detection, System Protection, Digital Forensics, and Secure Software Development. This position focuses on undergraduate teaching.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at York University is one of the foremost academic and research departments in Canada with more than 80 fulltime faculty members and offers a range of undergraduate programs and research-intensive graduate degrees. Qualifications
Degree: A PhD in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field is required, either in hand or near completion by the appointment's start. In exceptional cases, a master's degree with a substantial record of relevant industrial or teaching experience may be considered as a PhD Equivalent. Undergraduate degrees in Cybersecurity, Computer Security, or other closely related majors with a concentration or specialization in these areas will be considered an additional asset.
Teaching:
- A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching accomplishments, teaching statement, pedagogical innovations including in high priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning, official student and peer evaluations, and letters of reference). Experience or demonstrated potential in developing and teaching cybersecurity-related courses at the undergraduate level.
- Ability to teach effectively in both online and in-person settings.
