Position Description
- Actively teach at all levels within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine;
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows, contributing to their academic and scientific training;
- Develop and maintain an active and productive research program in bioinformatics and secure independent funding from federal grant agencies;
- Develop a network of local collaborations, particularly at CHUSJ and more broadly within the UdeM network and the Montreal scientific community, as well as at the national and international levels;
- Contribute to the academic life of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine, and the CRA-CHUSJ by participating in various committees and working groups, thereby enhancing institutional engagement;
- Actively contribute to the promotion of the discipline through conferences, the publication of scientific papers, the organization of large-scale scientific events, etc.
- Hold a PhD;
- Demonstrate significant experience and productivity at the postdoctoral level or as an independent researcher in the field of bioinformatics, in its fundamental and/or translational aspects;
- Demonstrate strong expertise in developing original methodologies in bioinformatics, preferably including the integration of omics approaches, artificial intelligence, and/or the development of diagnostic interpretation tools;
- Apply original bioinformatics methodologies to study biological questions relevant to maternal and child health, including but not limited to developmental biology, pediatric cancers, and genetic diseases;
- Demonstrate an ability to deliver high-quality university-level teaching;
- Demonstrate potential to supervise graduate students;
- Exhibit ambition, dynamism, and a desire to collaborate;
- Adequate proficiency in the French language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required upon assuming the position in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. A French language learning assistance program is offered to all professors who wish to acquire French language skills or enhance their communication abilities.
