Position Description

The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a full-time, benefit-eligible tenure-track/tenured assistant/associate/full professor, faculty position in Interdisciplinary Computing with a specialization in Digital Forensics. This position will begin in August 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded program of research in Digital Forensics, deliver quality undergraduate and/or graduate instruction in cybersecurity, digital forensics, and computer science, and contribute service to the school, college, university, and the profession. Faculty can participate in university-wide graduate programs. The successful candidate for this search will join the faculty at the School of Interdisciplinary Forensics and collaborate with faculty at the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences to expand and deepen program offerings and research endeavors in support of advancing the rigor. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a unit that values innovative research and undergraduate education equally while being housed in an R1 university. This has created the opportunity for our student population to obtain individual faculty mentorship on the West Valley Campus of ASU, which provides a close-knit residential campus setting.

About the School: The School of Interdisciplinary Forensics (SIF) integrates knowledge and techniques from multiple scientific disciplines to address pressing legal issues. SIF excels in forensic and psychological sciences, promoting justice by: 1) Applying psychological theory and research to explain behavior in legal contexts. 2) Leveraging forensic expertise in entomology, osteology, chemistry, genetics, and ethnography to advance forensic science. 3) Advancing digital forensics by researching, analyzing, recovering, and interpreting digital evidence from devices, networks, and data systems.

With a focus on real-world applications and ethical considerations, SIF provides its students with a comprehensive understanding of science's role in the legal system, focusing on real-world applications and ethical considerations. SIF prepares students for careers requiring scientific expertise and a deep commitment to justice and truth.

Essential Functions of the Position: The individual filling this position are expected to: • Establish a vigorous, externally funded program of research in digital forensics. • To deliver quality instruction in computer science. • To contribute service to the school, college, university and the profession. • Teach courses in relevant areas of cybersecurity, digital forensics, and computer science. • Advance impactful education through undergraduate research, innovative programmatic development, and culturally responsive teaching and mentoring practices. • Provide services as appropriate for position level including professional, academic, and community services. • Advance equitable inclusion across all aspects of the school’s operations. • Advance collegiality. Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field at the time of hire.

Desired Qualifications: • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students • Evidence of an ongoing (Full/Associate rank) or emerging (Assistant rank) research program in cybersecurity, digital forensics, or computer science and a record of publication and commitment to securing external grant funding consistent with the candidate's experience. • Evidence of successful college/university teaching and/or course development experience commensurate with the candidate's experience. • Demonstrated experience (Full/Associate rank) or interest (Assistant rank) in mentoring students in research in relevant areas. • Interest/experience in establishing interdisciplinary research programs through collaborative efforts. • Established collaborations with industry partners and/or previous industry experience. • Demonstrated contribution of service to profession and university, commensurate with the candidate’s current rank.
