CMS MREFC 2025 Summer Internship
The CMS MREFC Summer Internship is aimed at promoting research experiences in STEM fields by participating the upgrades of the CMS detector for the HL-LHC

The CMS MREFC Upgrade Project has sub-projects at several institutions.
Eligibility:
- No prior experience in this area of specialty is required. Training and mentorship will be provided.
- Qualifications include a C or higher GPA, an interest in high-energy physics, and a willingness to learn new skills.
- The Internship program is open only to US citizens and permanent residents. If accepted, you will be required to show proof of citizenship or permanent residency.
- This program is intended primarily for sophomore and junior students in science and engineering. In exceptional cases first year students could have enough familiarity with physics, engineering, or computer science to profit from their research experience.
- Students who have not yet enrolled as undergraduates are not eligible. In some cases seniors may be considered, depending on employment rules at the hosting institutions (in some cases graduating seniors cannot be appointed into undergraduate internship positions).
- If accepted, you will have to show proof of health insurance coverage for the period of the Internship Program.
Your application should
include:
1. Personal statement, approximately one page in length, describing:
- a. your experience, skills, interests, and goals;
- b. what would participating in a STEM research project mean to you.
2. Resume
3. A list of courses taken and your overall GPA, or an unofficial transcript.
4. One letter of recommendation from a professor that is familiar with your academic performance and your potential to contribute to research.
Applications completed after midnight EST February 16, 2025 may not be considered. Selections will be made on or around March 1, 2025. If you receive an offer letter from us, you will be asked to inform us of your decision within the timeline specified in the letter.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
- Unique applicable skills.
