Position Description
The Brandeis Quantum and Gravitational Theory group hopes to hire a postdoctoral scholar working at the interface of high-energy theory (HE), quantum information theory (QI), and atomic-molecular-optical (AMO) physics to begin September 1, 2025. The postdoctoral scholar will be a member of Professor Brian Swingle’s research group and will be part of a collaboration that includes theory and experiment colleagues at other institutions. We also expect that the postdoctoral scholar will interact with other members of the Quantum and Gravitational Theory group at Brandeis, including faculty members Albion Lawrence and Matthew Headrick. The successful candidate will have expertise in one or more of QI, HE, and AMO theory and a strong interest in using AMO experiments to shed light on HEP/QI theory. We seek a broad and diverse applicant pool, and welcome applications from candidates at the intersections of fields. Applications should include a CV, a statement of research interests that addresses the above requirements, a list of publications, and three letters of reference. Applications will be considered starting immediately and until the position is filled. Brandeis is an equal employment opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin. The position is contingent upon budgetary approval. The university’s pay ranges represent a good faith estimate of what Brandeis reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements. Brandeis University is an equal opportunity employer which does not discriminate against any applicant or employee on the basis of race, color, ancestry, religious creed, gender identity and expression, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy, age, genetic information, disability, caste, military or veteran status or any other category protected by law (also known as membership in a "protected class"). It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment. An employer who violates this law shall be subject to criminal penalties and civil liability.
