Position Description
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kentucky, Lexington anticipates hiring a postdoctoral researcher to join the research group of Prof. Susan Gardner (https://pa.as.uky.edu/users/sgard2). Candidates are expected to have recently earned a Ph.D. (or to have earned one by no later than August 1, 2025) in the fields of theoretical nuclear and/or particle physics, and/or in closely aligned areas in theoretical astrophysics. Particular interests include the study and description of fundamental symmetry violations using hadrons, nuclei, or neutron stars; dark matter (taken broadly), neutrino physics, QCD and effective theories, and precision measurements. The position would start August 1, 2025 and, contingent on performance and the availability of funds, be renewable for up to two additional years. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated expertise in theoretical physics, to have excellent oral and written communication skills, and to have a strong commitment to access, community, and engagement within an academic setting.
