The Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center is seeking exceptional candidates to apply for the position of Division Chief, Ambulatory Anesthesia. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished academic anesthesiologist with national prominence, a proven track record of academic productivity, and strong leadership skills. Candidates should also demonstrate a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workforce. The successful candidate will lead the division in providing innovative, high-quality ambulatory anesthetic care, advancing the academic and clinical missions of the department. Qualifications: • Board-certified in Anesthesiology with extensive experience in ambulatory anesthesia. • Expertise in regional anesthesiology • Prior leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build and lead cohesive teams. • A strong clinical background with a commitment to teaching and mentoring. • A track record of academic productivity as evidenced by high-impact publications, thematic-based research, and/or grant funding. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster relationships within the division and across the health system Responsibilities include: • Develop and implement strategic growth plans for the Division of Ambulatory Anesthesia in alignment with departmental and health system initiatives. • Lead clinical operations to ensure the delivery of outstanding ambulatory anesthetic care with a focus on safety, efficiency, and outcomes. • Partner with health system staff to optimize workflows and patient care delivery in ambulatory surgery centers. • Facilitate education and training for medical students, residents, and fellows, ensuring excellence in academic instruction and clinical mentorship in ambulatory anesthesiology. • Promote and support innovative scholarship, including clinical trials, health services research, and translational science focused on ambulatory care. • Manage division finances and operations in collaboration with the department’s Business Office.
