Position Description
Cornell University’s Critical Inquiry into Values, Imagination, and Culture initiative (https://provost.cornell.edu/academic-initiatives/radical-collaboration/civic/) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in Digital Humanities. The appointment will be for a period of two years, beginning July 1, 2025. The Postdoctoral Associate will be affiliated with Cornell’s Digital Humanities CIVIC research fellows group – members include Lindsay Thomas, Eliza Bettinger, Iliana Burgos, Carmel Raz, and Matthew Wilkens – and will be housed in the Department of Literatures in English.We seek an innovative and community-minded scholar and teacher who has experience in the digital humanities and literary studies. We especially welcome applications from scholars engaging data-driven or computational methods in the humanities. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in research and teaching as well as a desire to contribute to building an equitable and interdisciplinary community in digital humanities at Cornell. They will be affiliated with a department committed to a wide range of approaches in global anglophone literatures and cultures, including race and ethnic studies, feminist gender and sexuality studies, colonial and decolonial studies, and media studies.
In addition to developing their own research, the Postdoctoral Associate will participate in the intellectual life of the DH CIVIC group by attending regular meetings and collaborating with its members to organize events and activities. They will also teach two undergraduate courses per year, which could include introductory as well as intermediate and advanced classes, to be determined in consultation with the Department of Literatures in English. Additionally, the Associate will be invited to participate in the Cornell Media Studies Colloquium (https://mediastudies.as.cornell.edu/colloquium) and activities and events connected to the Digital CoLab at Cornell University Library (https://www.library.cornell.edu/about/staff/central-departments/digital-scholarship/).

[Pay Range: $61,008 - $87,000] Actual salary offers in the College of Arts and Sciences will be based on education, experience, discipline, and relevant skills.

Pay Ranges:
The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:
- Prior relevant work or industry experience.
- Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
- Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
