Position Description
The Duke University Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach one AI-relevant graduate-level course in Fall 2025. While not guaranteed, this position may be renewable and has the potential to evolve into a full-time Professor of Practice role. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in the AI industry who can incorporate their practical experience into the course syllabus. The specific course topics and syllabi will be determined based on the instructor's expertise and interests in collaboration with current faculty members. Please note that we are particularly interested in courses that apply AI to real-world problems rather than theoretical AI courses, which are already regularly offered at Duke. Due to the limited hours associated with this position, this is best suited for individuals who already reside or work in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area and are seeking to teach in addition to their current professional commitments. Interested candidates should send their CV, along with the title/description (and detailed syllabus, if available) of the course(s) they are interested in teaching.Duke is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing employment opportunity without regard to an individual's age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, (including pregnancy and pregnancy related conditions), sexual orientation, or military status.
Duke aspires to create a community built on collaboration, innovation, creativity, and belonging. Our collective success depends on the robust exchange of ideas—an exchange that is best when the rich diversity of our perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences flourishes. To achieve this exchange, it is essential that all members of the community feel secure and welcome, that the contributions of all individuals are respected, and that all voices are heard. All members of our community have a responsibility to uphold these values.
