Position Description
CMS Experiment The experimental high energy physics group at Texas A&M University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position to work on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The TAMU CMS group, led by Profs. Stephane Cooperstein, Ricardo Eusebi, Teruki Kamon, and Alexei Safonov, is actively engaged in physics analyses focusing on studying the Higgs boson and searches for various cosmologically or experimentally motivated scenarios of new physics. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in the search for Higgs boson pair production in the 4b final state and/or the measurement of Higgs boson decay to muons. The group is also very active in detector and electronics R&D, as well as the muon, tracker, and trigger upgrades and detector operations. For more information on the TAMU-CMS group, visit https://u.tamu.edu/tamu-cms. Candidates should anticipate taking leading roles in physics analyses as well as detector upgrade R&D and/or operations and should expect a non-negligible amount of travel, including internationally. The primary location for the position can potentially be either CERN or Texas A&M University and is negotiable depending on individual circumstances and specific projects; the primary location may change over time as projects evolve. Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in experimental particle physics or a related field and must have demonstrated abilities pertinent to the anticipated activities. While we anticipate that the successful candidate will join the group as soon as possible, the actual start date may be negotiable. Salary will be commensurate with experience. To apply, upload a single pdf with cover letter, CV, publication list, and a brief statement of research interests (maximum five pages) at https://tamus.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/TAMU_External/job/Postdoctoral-Research-Associate_R-083493 (Postdoctoral Research Associate). As part of the application process, applicants will be asked to request at least three letters of reference through Xref; this will be initiated by the Department of Physics and Astronomy for every applicant. For full consideration, applications must be received by June 1, 2025; however, applications will be considered until the position is filled.
