Position Description

The Villum Investigator Group “Quantum Quenches from Quantum Fields” at the Niels Bohr International Academy (NBIA) at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) requests expressions of interest for a PhD position in theoretical high energy physics/mathematical physics starting in the Fall of 2025.

The research group is directed by Villum Investigator, Prof. Charlotte Kristjansen and funded by the Villum Foundation. The theme of the PhD project would be exact methods and quantum quenches in holography.

We are looking for a candidate who must hold a master degree in theoretical physics and have a strong background in quantum field theory and holography. Knowledge of and working experience with modern exact methods such as AdS/CFT integrability, conformal bootstrap or localization will be considered an advantage.

PhD students at NBIA and NBI are invited to participate in numerous scientific activities (seminars, journal clubs, workshops etc.) and will also be involved in teaching exercise classes and organizing events. At NBI, there are many possibilities for further advanced education. A number of advanced courses is regularly given (e.g. Advanced Quantum Field Theory, Advanced String Theory, Black Hole Physics, The AdS/CFT correspondence.). There is also support to participate in international PhD schools.
