Associate in Research
“Teachineer” - Teacher coach and curriculum developer
This role is for an ODE teacher alumni. Your primary role is to support the incoming cohort of teachers as they produce high-quality lessons that incorporate EDP. Your secondary role is to create more of your own lessons. While Aaron focuses on the high school students during camp days, you will focus on the teachers.
Dates: June-July (important dates below)
Wednesday, June 18: ODE teacher workshop + kick off
Monday, June 23 - Friday, July 25: Camp meets daily from 10am-3pm.
Friday, July 4: Holiday! We will not meet.
Thursday, July 24: Student presentations from 5-8pm
Friday, July 25: Teacher presentations and celebration
Compensation
Payment: $5,000. This will be delivered at the end of Summer Design Camp.
Materials budget: $500. Up to $500 to implement one of your own lessons.
Lunch will be provided each day of summer camp.
Time commitment
The majority of tasks will take place during Summer Design Camp (M-F, 9:30am-4pm)
There will be some preparation outside of camp
Responsibilities
Co-lead teacher workshop on June 18
Arrive early to camp to greet and check-in with teachers
Support teachers in understanding EDP
Support teachers in identifying areas for EDP in the NC Science Standards
Support teachers in creating lesson plans
Review and offer feedback on lesson plans
Co-lead Friday workshops
Debrief with Aaron and Happi–share insights into teachers’ needs
This role is emergent–be prepared to be flexible and help us determine and respond to teachers’ needs.
