The Zachariou laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Biophysics (https://www.bumc.bu.edu/ppb/) at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking to recruit a new faculty member at the Research Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor level (salary range 85,000-110,000 USD). We seek a scientist to lead collaborative research projects leveraging mechanisms of nerve injury and neuropathic pain. We seek an accomplished scientist whose research examines the biological underpinnings of pain and neurodegeneration at multiple levels (molecular to systems level). Candidates with experience in, and a research program, manipulating neural circuits of somatosensation and pain (with optogenetics, chemogenetics, and other viral strategies) in conjunction with neuroimaging (such as calcium or voltage imaging) are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates with neurotechnology experience (TMS, functional ultrasound, etc.) that modulate pain circuits for therapeutic benefit are also encouraged to apply.
