The Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS) and Department of Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) in New York City (NYC) are jointly recruiting a tenure-track faculty member (Assistant Professor rank) in biomedical artificial intelligence (AI). We are seeking candidates with a strong background and interest in mathematical, statistical, and/or computational methodologies, including computer vision and machine learning to analyze multi-modal biomedical data involving medical imaging and clinical records. Some areas of high priority include, but are not limited to, large language models and generative AI methods, model interpretation and generalizability, model implementation and evaluation. The faculty member would join an outstanding and collaborative environment and will be jointly appointed in the Division of Health Informatics and Artificial Intelligence within PHS and the Department of Radiology. The faculty will have extensive opportunities for collaboration with other faculty members in the two departments, as well as researchers across other departments at WCM, and partner institutions New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the Hospital for Special Surgery, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and Cornell Tech, which is Cornell’s NYC-based engineering campus. The unique graduate field system at Cornell University allows faculty members to recruit PhD students from a range of programs and offers unparalleled opportunities for cross-disciplinary research. The successful applicant will have a Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent in computer science, biomedical informatics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or a related field. The candidate should have a strong publication record in high-impact peer-reviewed venues and provide evidence of potential or demonstrated ability to develop and lead a world-class research program, including securing extramural funding and mentoring trainees. The successful candidate will also have experience in curriculum development, teaching, and scholarship activities in biomedical AI. The candidate should have strong communication skills, an established record of interdisciplinary work, and be ready to foster collaborative opportunities in research, education, service, and innovation, including engaging with industry partners and entrepreneurship. The successful candidate will also be a member of the WCM Institute of AI for digital health (AIDH) and work closely with other members in the institute. Cornell is an equal opportunity employer. The salary range listed is for full‐time employment not including bonuses, clinical incentive compensation, or benefits. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs.
