Position Description Description: The Department of Computer Science at Brandeis University invites applications for a full-time teaching position. Faculty rank is Lecturer or Assistant Professor depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, outside-the-tenure-structure (OTS) appointment beginning Fall 2026, pending budget approval. The salary range for this position will be $85,000-$115,000 (nine-month, academic year salary. We are looking for exceptional candidates to teach a variety of core computer science courses, as well as upper-level and graduate electives within their areas of expertise. We are particularly interested in individuals with an interest in teaching electives in all areas of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, including but not limited to areas such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, data-driven systems, and the ethical and societal implications of intelligent technologies. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and active engagement in the department’s academic community. Responsibilities include advising, participating in faculty meetings, supporting undergraduate and graduate research, and contributing to the department's teaching and research mission at Brandeis. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Computer Science (all-but-dissertation candidates will be considered if they are near completion). The ideal candidate should have prior teaching experience, particularly with undergraduate students, and an engaging approach to instruction. A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring is essential. About The Department: The Department consists of a diverse group of 19 full-time faculty members and researchers and offers programs leading to B.A./B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science. The Department has research strengths in data systems, distributed systems, machine learning, computational linguistics, computer vision, and software design and implementation. In addition, members of the Department collaborate closely with faculty across the university, including biology, neuroscience, economics, physics, and political science, among others.
