Position Description
The Tufts Institute of Cosmology at Tufts University invites applications for one postdoctoral researcher position starting in September 2026. The position is a full-time, 24-month (two-year) appointment, which may be extended to a third year upon successful performance, availability of funding, and mutual agreement. The research is expected to be at the interface of theoretical cosmology and particle physics, including but not limited to early universe cosmology, aspects of dark matter, including axions and other models, gravitational waves, and applications of effective field theory. The faculty members in the cosmology group are Mark Hertzberg, Soubhik Kumar, and Ken Olum. The group also includes other postdocs, long-term visitors, and graduate students, and has a joint seminar series with MIT. The group also maintains strong connections with other cosmology and particle theory research groups in the greater Boston area, and such collaborations will be highly encouraged. More information about the group is available at https://as.tufts.edu/physics/tufts-institute-cosmology. Applicants are invited to send a cover letter, CV, a publication list, a statement of research interests (three pages maximum plus references), and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent via AJO. Applications received by December 15, 2025, will be given full consideration. For questions about this position, please contact Soubhik Kumar (soubhik.kumar (at) tufts.edu).
