Description

Queen’s University and the Arthur B. McDonald Canadian Astroparticle Physics Research Institute (McDonald Institute) are accepting applications for a postdoctoral researcher to work on developing machine-learning-based data analysis and model developments to study high-energy particle interactions in the Universe. The position is targeted to start on May 1, 2026. The successful candidate is expected to work at the intersection of experimental analysis and phenomenology. This could include the development and implementation of machine learning-based analysis techniques for astroparticle experiments, modelling of high-energy neutrino or cosmic ray physics, and prediction of BSM signals at current and future high-energy neutrino and cosmic-ray experiments. The postdoctoral researcher will work with Professor Nahee Park, Professor Aaron Vincent, and Professor Ryan Martin. Depending on the candidate's research interests, the postdoctoral fellow can join the local IceCube, HELIX, or theory group. The appointment will be for two years with the potential for a one-year extension. Applicants are required to have a PhD in physics prior to starting the position. The salary will be competitive with postdoctoral positions in North America and commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Applications will be reviewed starting on December 31st. Employment Equity: Queen’s University invites applications from all qualified candidates. Queen's is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace and welcomes applications from women, visible minorities, Aboriginal peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, priority will be given to Canadians and permanent residents. The University will provide support in its recruitment processes to applicants with disabilities, including accommodation that takes into account an applicant's accessibility needs.

For questions regarding postdoctoral positions, please contact Nahee Park (nahee.park@queensu.ca), Aaron Vincent (aaron.vincent@queensu.ca), or Ryan Martin (ryan.martin@queensu.ca).
