Position Description
Cornell Tech invites applications from outstanding candidates with a passion for teaching for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position at Cornell Tech’s Roosevelt Island campus in New York City. Lecturers & Senior Lecturers are non-tenure track teaching faculty members who are hired on multi-year appointments with the expectation of renewal and promotion.
We are seeking candidates who can teach large master’s level courses in computing and related areas, with preference for candidates who can teach in one of the following areas: AI and Machine learning (courses like Applied Machine Learning, Deep Learning); Computer science foundations (Software Engineering, Algorithms); data science and data analysis (Data Science in the Wild, Causal Inference), or urban computing and design.
Candidates for the position should hold a PhD or Master’s degree in a computing-related field and have demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation. Candidates with Master’s degree will only be considered with 5-10 years of teaching experience in university settings. Based on their experience and expertise, hired candidates will be appointed in, and become members of, one of the following Cornell University departments: Computer Science, Information Science, Design Tech, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Design Technology.

The campus offers a collaborative and stimulating culture and a competitive salary and benefits package. Beyond teaching, lecturers play a full and active part in campus life and work with other faculty members and our excellent students in a broad range of ways including curriculum design and innovation, developing online (eCornell) courses, advising M.Sc. and M.Eng. student projects, mentoring Ph.D. students interested in teaching careers, and participating in wider faculty governance and decision-making.
