Position Description
The Pratt School of Engineering, Institute for Enterprise Engineering at Duke University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to assist delivering masters-level engineering classes (1-2 sections per academic year) or serving as faculty-mentor to a group of students (2 student cohorts per academic year).
This position is expected to be part time.
This is a temporary two-year appointment with extension possible based on needs.
Candidate should have relevant background in the topics of interest or more than 15 years of professional experience in engineering management positions. The successful candidate for this role will be expected to:
• Assist with the design, organization, and delivery of one or more graduate courses each year
• Collaborate with the faculty member and/or program director responsible for the course
• Mentor students in the class and respond to student issues throughout the semester
• Assist with multiple types of assessments of student performance in the course
• When working as faculty-mentor for student cohort, meet with students on a weekly basis, provide academic advising, promote engagement, and help advocate and communicate concerns to faculty and program administrators
Adjunct Instructor is a non-regular rank faculty position.
