Postdoc Research Fellow in Quantum Information
and Quantum Computing

The Quantum Information Science
Theory Group at Sejong University in Seoul (QuIST) is
accepting theoretical-research applications for one
postdoctoral research fellow (55 million KRW per year incl. taxes) in the field
of quantum information and computation. Selected position shall begin in
2026 but actual start date and salary are negotiable.
The Quantum
Information Science and Engineering (QISE) Department at Sejong University is a
newly-founded department in 2026 that provides full-time undergraduate
curriculum specializing on quantum information and quantum computing. The QuIST
research group supports the QISE department by carrying out both quantum
information and computation projects ranging from quantum device
characterization, error mitigation/suppression/correction, Bayesian-inference-based
quantum information tasks to other interesting problems related to the quantum world.

The candidate can also expect to work
with external collaborators, both international and domestic (e.g. Seoul
National University, etc.) Applicants who show strong competence in the related
fields of study and possess working technical skills in python/MATLAB
programming are preferred.
The appointed
position period is two years (1+1), with the first year being a
probation year. Extension may be possible and is subject to research
performance and funding conditions. Health and safety insurance and severance
pay shall also be supported according to university regulations and employment
laws. Additional financial support for research activities will be provided.
Sejong
University is a private university in Seoul, South Korea, which has been ranked
No. 1 in Korea for Research Quality for the third consecutive year in the Times
Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, announced by Times Higher
Education (THE). The university is located at Gwangjin district, right across
the Children’s Grand Park, 30 mins away by foot from Seongsu-dong which is a
popular area for young people filled with trendy restaurants, popup stores and vibrant
night life, and 30 mins away by subway from Lotte World Tower (Jamsil subway station), the tallest
building in South Korea. The center of the metropolitan capital city is also easily
accessible with well-connected subway networks and other public transportations right outside the university.
